Yes, I will probably be taking the Revics. To be clear, the EL Range glass is better, but when testing the lasers in smoke, fog, and crappy atmospheric conditions, sometimes the EL Range Laser is not consistent to 1000 yards. My glassing setup for this year will be the Gen2 Revics, 14NLs, and sometimes the Swaro STC.
Now we need a bino harness that will take BR10 + NL14 at the same time…
The used gen 1 ads are popping up everywhereGoing to be some good buys on used gen 1’s.
I noticed that tooThe used gen 1 ads are popping up everywhere
The blr10b's don't have enough screen elements to show both elevation and windage at the same time unless they got rid of the range distance. Safe to say it won't be coming as a software update.@Aaron Davidson will there be a software update for my Gen 1s to bring the windage and elevation readings on the single screen, or will that be proprietary to the Gen 2s?
Thanks.
This is a great review. Thank you!Received my gen 2 today. I've set up three tripods with the Revic gen 2, 10x EL Range and 12x54 Pure. I'm looking from 30 - 8000 yards and everywhere in between.
Impressions, in no particular order.
Comparing these to the Geovid Pro.
- Color hue of the Revic more matches the Pures than the ELs match the Pure.
- If I cover each objective of the Revic, I can see a blue hue in the right side which is where the display is. With both eyes open it's not obvious. The blue is nowhere what the gen 1 Sig was and about on par with the gen 2 Sig. I no longer have the Sig in hand to do a side by side comparison.
- The range return is a fraction of a second quicker than the EL although both are more than fast enough.
- The edge clarity of the Revic is surprisingly good. I'm sure, with further testing, the Swaros would be better but it's really not noticeable after quite a bit of looking.
- The Sig can range further than the Revics. I only know that because I had both gen 1 and 2 Sigs and could easily hit 6000 yards.
- I can hit 2500 easily but 2700 is less reliable. That's hitting trees and hills.
- Again, not side by side, but I was able to get a few hundred yard further readings with the Geovid Pro when I had those.
- From 350 yards to 1350 yards the Revics remain in focus. That's quite the depth of focus!
- On my unit, the laster is in more in the left half of the reticle. It's obvious when hitting a t-post at 400 yards.
- I think I like the new reticle over a circle or square. It's just different but easy to use.
- These seem to wake up faster than the Geovid Pro and there's no boot up or boot down screen with the name Sig. Press the range button twice in succession and you've got a range.
- Once you have a range, you can press the menu button to give you last range and data again. You don't have to range the target again. You can then change the wind inputs for that last range.
Comparing these to the EL Range.
- Range return time is similar between these.
- The all in one data screen is better than waiting the second or two on the Geovid Pro.
- The glass is similar although I can't do a side by side and am going by memory.
- Lasers are about same.
- AB vs Revic dope is your choice. For hunting out to 1000 it won't make any difference. I personally know the AB system much better but these binos are for hunting and not ELR for me.
- Revic has the better laser.
- Revic is smaller, lighter and is threaded for use with the Outdoorsmans stud.
- Range return time and dope are so similar to not be an issue.
- Color hues are different between the two. You'd have to look at each and decide which your eye likes better. This may affect long glassing sessions off a tripod depending on if you like one over the other.
- For me, I'll keep the Revic and compare to whatever Swaro replaces the EL Range with if/when that happens.
I will shortlyThis is a great review. Thank you!
Does anyone have this gen ii and an Sig gen ii they can do a side by side on?
I’ve got an sig gen 1 and these gen 2 revics. I was going to do a small comparison this weekThis is a great review. Thank you!
