Checking to see if anyone has experience, good or bad, with Revelation Mountain Outfitters for Dall Sheep. I am looking at them for a hunt and doing some research.

Thanks in advance for any info.

No first hand knowledge, just info in passing. Nothing really bad about them.

The sheep population in that part of the state is struggling. I would ask for success rates for the last 4-5 years. and check references from past clients of this year and last.

With the closure of 19, there are a few guides moving into their area, or so I hear. could be more pressure in the coming years.

I'm not sure if there are better or worse areas to hunt, to be honest. Sheep populations are pretty low statewide, Sure there is still success, but it's nothing like it was 10-15 years ago. The days of seeing multiple legal rams on a hunt are long gone.

Good luck

Thank you. I appreciate the response and info.

I hunted with them in 2024 and killed this awesome ram. On my 10 day hunt, we seen 3 more rams that were for sure legal rams. One of my best friends also hunted with them (same dates as me about 30 miles away from me) and missed a beautiful flaring ram at 300 yards, and seen 2 or 3 more that were legal. He is re-booked to go back next year with them (2026). Him and I hunted the 2nd 10 day hunt with them, starting August 22nd. They had a group of (3) sheep hunters before us hunting the first 10 days of the season. One guy tapped out and quit on day 3 I believe, with a legal ram visible from their camp. One guy missed the ram that I ended up taking. The 3rd guy legitimately did not have an opportunity. I have nothing but good to say about that outfit. Their communication on the front end and every part of the hunt was exactly as Jason described. I would go back and hunt with them in a heartbeat.
i'm sure they love you blowing up "their" spot too

Are you being serious??? How in the heck did I blow up anyone’s spot??? There was no mention of location whatsoever, just that they were a fantastic outfitter and we seen multiple legal rams. Please let me know if I missing something.
any avid resident sheep hunter with half a brain could tell you what drainage they hunt.... now you just spewed to the world that there are several legal rams in that area... something that is harder and harder to come by each year.

buddy... its not that big of an area. don't need to know the exact location of the drainage you were in. you just told the whole internet enough. 5 sheep hunters, bet those hunters were not dropped off blindly. they knew what was in there. some things are better left in private messages.

WTF is he supposed to say when people ask about how it was?

all I'm saying is in the current sheep populations any tip on an open forum can put extreme pressure on a particular spot. I'm sure the guy that posted was just trying to help and will never hunt sheep there again. so, what does he care? torrent50 i think the outfitter has had a long run and has been successful, but buying a sheep hunt now days is buying a hunt not buying a sheep. success rates have been rather low for most outfitters. that goes for the whole state not just this little sliver of Alaska that is being discussed.

Yeah, I wish I would have started this process about 10 years ago. But, hindsight is 20-20 as they say and I'm not getting any younger. I appreciate your input on the whole situation. An aspect I didn't even consider when I started this thread, but probably should have.

I think there are people that will help, PMs might be the correct place to really dive into the populations of game in the area. Good luck, enjoy the process.

Making comments that I don't care about the current state of sheep in Alaska, or that I will never hunt sheep again tells me a lot about the type of person you must be. You have no clue who I am, how I feel about conservation, or what my future hunting plans are. I do care a lot about sheep populations in Alaska, and yes I will be hunting sheep again in the future. I think a big problem was spelled out by you in a PM to me, and that is Alaska resident sheep hunters. You mentioned in your PM to me how a couple resident buddies could take the information I shared and completely wipe out the rams in that area in a couple years. That right there is a problem if you ask me. As a resident, do you have any self control? Do you need to harvest a sheep every year? If you care so much about the population, maybe you should have some restraint. As a non-resident I have a 4 year wait period before I can hunt them again, and I am completely fine with that. I think if it was that way for EVERYONE, that would be a positive for sheep populations in general. Maybe the "avid resident sheep hunter" should be more of a conservationist, rather than being concerned about killing his 10th ram. Just my 2 cents, and I'm sure you will tear me up for this too, and that is ok, I can take it.

Also, are you on any social media platform? If not, I will fill you in on something. Almost all outfitters have some sort of social media account, whether it be Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, whatever... Well, on their social media accounts they share pictures and stories of their successful hunts. This includes Alaska outfitters showing successful sheep hunts. Any "avid resident sheep hunter" could look into any of the areas that any of those successful outfitters operate out of. Yet you act like I am single handedly blowing up areas, and wiping out sheep populations.

Anyways, I am done wasting any more of my time on this. I sent you a PM @Torrent50.
