Over the past few yrs I've been devoting my time to backcountry elk. However, in two years I would like to treat my dad to a hunt out west for a retirement gift. It would be great to bring him out for elk, but in reality he doesn't get around too good any more due to some health issues. So, I'm looking for some good ideas for a hunt that could be some easy walking and good vehicle access. I'm open to anything really. Weather it's elk, deer, antelope, DIY, ranch lease, guided or any hunt you may think would be fun. I guess as far as spending, I'd like to keep my trip under 5k. The less the better! We would be driving out. All ideas welcome and appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure on prices of tags but some of the Utah CWMU properties would be a good fit for your dad.

An antelope hunt in wyoming could be the ticket. With a little research and planning it could turn into a fine gentlemens hunt.

I think you should look into getting your Dad to draw a non-resident cow moose tag in either Colorado or Wyoming. The tags are pretty darn expensive for a non-resident ($1600-1800) but the quailty of the hunt is great and the price is very comparable to a guided antelope hunt. Moose meat is fricken delicous and the terrian is usually pretty tame. If you research and draw a good area in either state you will have a great time and see tons of moose. The good thing is that since the tags are pretty expensive they are usually not too hard to draw even for the best areas as a non-resident. Granted this isn't a trophy hunt for bulls but if you guys are okay hunting cows for the meat and experience i do not know how you could go wrong. I have done it and it is a pretty awesome hunt.
