How do you guy's with direct mount 5/8"-24 keep them from coming loose?

I only have my experience to go off but if I tighten it down, break it free and then retighten the first time I install I rarely have issues. I’ll also give it a crank when the can is hot and then it really locks down as it cools off. I am neurotic about checking to make sure it’s not loose fairly often the same way I check my turrets, safety, etc. even though I rarely have problems.

I’ve heard of people using teflon tape (yellow PTFE designed for gas lines), but haven’t tried it yet myself.

I also use the wrist snap after a can came loose on me. It’s never come loose with that technique but I still check it every handful of rounds.

I’ve read elsewhere and since created the routine of slowly snugging it down once, then back off a quarter turn and slowly snugging down again and back off a quarter turn again, then firmly snapping it tight. That works for me.

I think…partly to clean the threads of any particles, partly voodoo magic, and partly to warm up the threads so they’re nice and comfy before final tightening.

Clearly, this isn’t based off of my knowledge of empirical evidence as a reason

The sequence above works well. I call it magic lol but if you’re going to go on a hunt or leave the can on for awhile and not just a few shots, I clean off the barrel threads really well before I do this and works great.

My silencer co harvester is still one of the quietest cans I have. Every time I shoot it everyone around me says “wonder why they quit making it”

Harvester 300? I have the same can and I’m not sure I agree. Is it plenty quiet, sure is. But not sure it’s one of the quiet cans. It’s actually one of the louder ones from a db perspective

My harvester Evo 300 is the quietest can I’ve ever shot……………Its also the only can I’ve shot!!

I am curios how big of a difference there is between it and these. I am a total noob to cans but the Evo has worked for me fine.

Generally this. If there are wrench flats i use them sometimes too.

I apologize if this was answered elsewhere, but I have a 16" 22 CM that is about finished at UM and will need a suppressor. I've been debating between the Nano/7mm ZG or the future .30 can in development. I'm using a bit of guesswork for the 30 can based on what they have already released, but do you think the sound reduction of a bigger 7mm/30 cal cans would be worth it over the Nano? With such a short barrel, I feel like I can get away with a longer 6-7" suppressor if it will make a big difference on sound reduction.

I’d get the 6.5/7mm if I was you , unless you wanted something extremely tiny

How and where do you plan to use the rifle? What is most important to you?

For a lot of range or varmint use on a 16” .22 CM or similar, I would get a .224 caliber AB Raptor 8 with a 3” reflex. That would give you a 22” overall length weighing roughly the same as a 22” barrel. That will give a quiet rifle with a flat tone that is still handy.

For hunting, with only occasional range use, I’d get a Nano. The more I shoot my ZG 6.5, the more I like it. I ordered a Nano yesterday. No idea when it will be here, but I look forward to using it on a 22” 1:8” twist .22-250.
