**Results are in** REAPER vs AIRLOCK vs PTR VENT 1 vs NOMAD TI-XC vs DD ENTICER LTI TITANIUM SHOOTOUT

Now what does OPE stand for? ;) Ocular Perceived Effect?
LOL. Ope is the kid on the Andy Griffith show. At least in my mind there isn't another possibility.

"Audible Perceived Effect" doesn't really describe a separate category. Isn't that basically equal to or less than the blind behind the shooter category?

No.

APE is the individual person's perception and opinion. We all hear things differently to a certain extent. It was not a blind test, but rather the shooters scored it. The blind test was a group of folks who know nothing of suppressors and they were not able to see which can was being shot, only scored based on sound, facing away, and down range.

Thank you. That is what I was looking for. I like the format just didn't understand some of the categories.

Regarding the "Blind down range" scoring. What was the setup for that?

I have a PTR Vent 1. It is significantly quieter than any other suppressor I've heard. You're telling me that the Airlock 7mm is (roughly) just as quiet, in a substantially smaller and lighter package?
Where do I throw my money? NM, I see that they're planning another preorder on 1/1/26...

US isn’t only able to be purchased off of the website. I’m getting more dealers every week. PM’s are always open if anybody wants me to reach out to a suppressor dealer close to them.

If somebody is not wanting to order one because of their dealer transfer fee, shoot me a pm and I’ll make up for that.

But give us 6-12 mo, probably less and this will be a completely different conversation at the rate that we’re growing and the products we have coming out.

Appreciate the support gents!

Sure hope my transfer isn’t 100. Hopefully some interest in MT dealers. I know mine wants to see the can reaper himself. They are big dead air fans

My SOT is $100 too, but the alternative is spending that much in gas and several hours of my time to get to the next closest one. It's a small local shop that I don't mind supporting and keeping a relationship with in case I need something.

I don’t know if I missed it but I don’t see any talk about endcaps and cartridges being shot? The results sheet says the diameter is 7mm for airlock and 30 cal for everything else. I believe deadair and DD have interchangeable endcaps how come that wasn’t a consideration? Airlock does look very impressive however I wonder how much is lost when shooting a 6/6.5 through a 30 cal endcap? That seems pretty important to me or am I wrong?

With a reflex suppressor, you can get significant decibel reduction (2-3 decibels - which is enough for most people to notice the difference) from having a bore closer to the caliber you are shooting (according to AB and US testing). From what I have read, it doesn’t make as much difference with a muzzle forward suppressor (maybe 1 decibel - almost no one can tell the difference).

Awesome thread! Like others have said, very interested in seeing what a 7” ZG looks like. Will it be kept direct thread? My next can will be a 30 cal TI direct thread around that length since it’s still a manageable length and I’ll always prioritize sound reduction over getting shorter than that for 30 cal magnums.

I also would be very interested hearing what the effects would be to adding 1” to the ZG nano. One would think that at that extreme any length would make a big difference in db and it would still be tiny.

Lastly, while this is out of the core ZG focus, I’d like to see what their tech would sound like in a 22lr can designed to be as small and lite as possible for a pistol. Like a ZG bowers bitty.

Reaper, Nomad ti XC, great cans, as the gap covering those 2, is half the gap between the reaper and the airlock. These are all debatable numbers, as it was just going off ear and a handful of peoples observations. I'm not disqualifying the test, as it's observed data and likely well conducted. If you take out the lost points for an inch of length and 2oz weight penalty, the TI XC and reaper are a tie.
Lots of ifs there. If if...

My TBAC Ultra 5 does exactly what I expect it to do for its size and weight.
I don’t own an airlock yet, but I think there’s enough info out there to show the AL makes the ultra 5 obsolete IF you are shooting 6.5 or smaller.

While I would imagine the AL ZG 7’s light weight and impressive suppression to size allow many folks to say it is worth the extra size over an ultra 5, there’s at least an argument for the smaller ultra 5.

Ultimately, AL is showing 3D cans appear to be the future and companies that have been making the same general design for 20+ years will struggle to survive (in my opinion of course) 10 years from now. Companies will need to adapt and improve.
