Restocked SWFA 3-9x42 Gen 1

Ahhh shoot I gotcha.

Can you get one piece Leupold backcountry? Just put some of those on for my brother and they are really nice.
Yep, I just got some. They seem pretty rugged, indeed. I like the looks of those Hawkins better because on the rear mount the front screw comes down through the ring. Makes for a smaller footprint. On the Kimber version of the Leupolds both screws go through the base, which leaves the ring hanging out over the ejection port.

I like the compactness of those Hawkins. Plus the 25moa-ness. Plus the bubble. Does seem like manufacturing the 25moa cant would be harder to execute though. Did you have to lap those?

I have not, and never have lapped any rings… I trust Hawkins knowledge more than my own about metal and stuff… I’m just a ham fisted carpenter anyway!

Mine just showed up and noticed 2 things.

The clicks on both turrets are almost inaudible. Very different than the SWFA click feedback I’m used to.

The power ring, is stiffer than Jerry Sandusky at a Pop Werner game.

Not sure either are a big deal and power ring will probably loosen up, but it’s interesting.

Tanner
Small ranger band fixes the stiff power ring without the bulk of a throw lever. 12$ for an assorted sized bag on Amazon.
