I know that external frame packs aren't as popular these days, but I have an old Kelty frame and harness that I still use for training and hauling meat because I think external frames just excel in those areas. The waist belt is still the most comfortable I've ever worn, but the shoulder straps really needed to be upgraded.
I got on the Kelty website and found these shoulder straps for just $20 shipped to my door. I thought that was a very good deal and wanted to pass it along. I'm sure these would work with a variety of packs.
One note of caution, the chest strap/buckle was missing on my pair although it's shown in the photo. Not sure if this was an oversight or what. I just robbed one off an old Coleman hydration pack that I never use anymore, and it fit perfectly. So if you order these, you might want to ask if that chest strap/buckle come with them.
My pack frame is good to go now and more comfortable than ever - ready to hit the bleachers and after that, haul meat!
