Just got a new MR Pop Up pack and it's got an excessive number of autolock buckles on it. I'm going to replace them, but before I order a handful of split repair buckles, I wanted to see if anyone knows of any low profile/low bulk buckles that would work for most applications short of strapping on very heavy loads. Thanks!

^ I'm starting to dig the gatekeeper buckles as well; SO uses them almost exclusively and I've hauled meat w/o any drama using them to secure loads

SO sells them as stand alone or with straps too.

I’ll be replacing the gatekeepers this pack came with as well; these have a little flap that you clamp down after you put tension on the strap. That’s more finicky than I would like, but normal gatekeepers have been fine for me in the past. @Dos Perros @mtwarden Which applications on a pack would you not use gatekeepers for, or do they hold tension well enough that you’d use them universally?

I've used them with my SO pack securing meat loads and haven't had any issues whatsoever; it's all SO uses for all of their packs afaik

I do some sewing and designing so that's how I came to be familiar with them. Well, actually Marsupial offers them as a buckle delete kit. They are lighter / less bulky than the regular Marsupial buckles, but they do slip some. Maybe in a constant high tension environment they'd be better. I don't use them when safety is a consideration, to be real general about it. I wish I could find a good made in America version.

I’ll second the gate keepers too. I’ve grown to really like them, and I’m not a fan of the auto lock buckles either.

These guys have a good selection of buckles and hardware in general.
