I’m looking into the possibility of renting a four wheeler for the upcoming Colorado elk season. While it is not necessity
I think it could be very helpful. I have found a place in Denver the rents for multiple days. I will be hunting in the steamboat/ Walden area. Does anyone know of any other dealers it do a multi-day rental either in Denver or near steamboat?

I would honestly think about buying a cheap one. Renting one each year will add up to the amount of buying one pretty quick. But if you only plan on coming out for just 1 year then itll probably make sense to rent one.

I have been keeping a eye out for a cheaper one. I keep hearing about guys finding cheap ones, but I have had much luck

I found it too expensive to consider. Depends what unit you will be hunting as to how much help an ATV would be. I hauled my Yamaha from Louisiana to Wyoming in 2010. It was costly/inefficient to tow and could not really go anywhere that I couldn't access in my Nisan Titan. I saw locals using them past the signs that stated "no wheeled or tracked vehicles past this point". I do not wish to violate the rules, risk a fine, or bring down more wrath on myself an other Non-Residents. The Louisiana plates on my truck alone are enough to get me some negative feedback.

I try to line up a packer for game retrieval. Outfitters are often too busy with "full service clients" and are not that interested in a one day pack out for a minimal fee for a DIY hunter. Best to contact multiple packers pre-hunt, and have a back up plan to pack the meat on your own. IMHO This is why god made horses & mules! LOL! As for daily driving an ATV to access your spots, I don't like the noise. Out of fear I will run the game out of my area (and piss off everyone else in the process) I'm going to avoid this. LaGriz
