WTS Remington M1917 .338-06 Ackley Improved

I have a badass Remington Model 1917 (controlled feed action, true long/magnum action length) that has had an aftermarket trigger added, smooth as glass as is the action, has had a new boot handle added, rebarreled to .338-06AI and glassed in a synthetic stock, drilled and tapped for scope mounts. It would be perfect for a reloader, as a woods gun or grizzly/brown bear rifle, or as the basis for a custom build. These actions are long heralded as perfect for true magnum length builds and are what Holland and Holland originally built their .375 H and H rifles on, so that should say something.

Barrel length is 23.5” and manufacturer is unknown, unfortunately. I am not the first owner of this rifle, but whoever originally worked on it must’ve really loved it because the finish is immaculate and the trigger and action are silky as hell. It is sweet, I just don’t need it.

That gun deserves a nice figured walnut stock......I have a sweet 98 Mauser custom in 338-06 in a nice AA stock.....a beauty and slick as can be. A sight to behold and a treat to cycle the action.

I wouldn't give it any deserving treatment. It would get used as rifle, bridge, canoe paddle and lord knows what else.

Its OK to give a nice figured walnut stock a few character marks......adds to the value of the rifle. Who wouldnt want Jack O'Connors sheep rifle and you know that rifle got used.
