It's about time Remington makes a good bargain rifles, unlike the 710's and 770's. I've alway sbeen a huge fan of the 700's. I wouldn't mind trying one of these when they come out on the market.

Old thread but has anyone purchased the 783?

I bought a Walnut stocked one in .30-06 last year. I sold it and bought a Tikka. With the price of a 700adl being $150 higher, I see no reason to buy the 783 unless you just really want the detachable mag.

I don't own one, but I worked on developing a load for one for a friend.
It's as accurate as any other rifle I've shot (ie, it'll put 5 rounds into 1.5" at 100) The action was surprisingly smooth & the trigger a nice, crisp pleasure. Heavy pull at maybe 5lb, but very crisp.
The only thing I didn't like was the stock shape. The recoil (.30-06) was unpleasant to stay with & downright painful by the time I was at 20rnds.
