I currently have a Remington 700 308 sporter that i had chopped and threaded at 20" that i shoot with a suppressor as my primary hunting rifle. I would like to lighten it up a touch it currently has a B&C carbelite stock and it shoots under 1" very easily. I know about mcmillan edge and bansner stocks and have used them both quite a bit but just wondering if there is any other options that are light but cost less than an edge. I would prefer more of a drop in if possible but open to other ideas. Am i missing any brands that are light and fit decently?

Thanks for your help.

Wildcat composites if you're a up for a little DIY project, or you can have him finish it for you but you'll be up near the price of an edge.

I love mine and it was a fun project to work on. Finished weight ended up at 21.0oz, even with a bunch of paint and probably too much epoxy.

What issues did you have with the edge? Not as light as they say? Fit? Please let me know

I had to send it back 3 times for them to get it right. After all of the trouble and cost of the stock, my rifle didn't weigh any different than when it had a B&C stock on it. The B&C stock fit right the first time and just has better ergos than the McMillan. B&C is just a better and less expensive stock than the McMillan.

How much does your stock weigh?
Could try Manners or Mesa Precision.
or find a Christensen Ridgeline stock take-off for sale in classifieds.

I don’t know how much weight you’re looking to save though.

My stock is a little over 2 lbs. just looking for something a little lighter and slightly better quality is all

I bought a Stocky's brand stock. The model is the "long Range Carbon Fiber M50 Remington 700."

I absolutely love this stock. I did a full bedding, but it really just needed a recoil lug bed (and perhaps not even that) the stock is light, feels great to shoot, and is extremely rigid.

Would buy again 100%.

Want to add some specs. 30-32 oz (just under 2 lb). pillars installed, Decelerator XL Recoil Pad.

I just weighed my B&C Light varmint stock last night out of curiosity. It’s the Rem LVSF factory stock, pillar bedded, really stiff, nice stock. It’s 28oz in the ADL form. I don’t know about adding a magazine or bdl weight to it but It makes my 22” 1990’s 260 Rem 6lbs 1 oz bare

I have yet to be begin to procrastinate.

I've got a new Christensen Arms short action ridgeline stock it you interest. Its cut for a bigger barrel so you would have more room around the barrel than needed.

I just ordered an AG composite CAT for my 300 win mag...AG make stocks for Barret, Weatherby, and Bergara so I figured I give them a try...plus they quoted a 6 to 8 week turnaround that is really 6 to 8 weeks.

This Brown's Pound'r has really got me in love with an aftermarket stock. God forbid I'm going to pay retail ($800+???) but damn does it feel nice! 16oz with paint & as stiff as a railroad tie!20170907_210015.jpg

Would love to hear more about this stock and how you finished it. I am thinking about buying one for a Mauser 30-06 i just got that I am also going to shorten to a 20" barrel and needs to loose some weight. I have pillar and glass bedded a handful of rifles successfully, but never finished a fiberglass stock like this before
