REM 722 300 savage convert to 6.5 creed.

I've got a Remington 722 in 300 savage that I would like to turn into a 6.5 creed.
The stock is extremely worn and the according to a smith the barrel is at the end of its life.

I was given this by my grandfather and would love to save the action as this was the last gun he ever shot.

I'm an archery guy and don't any experience as far as gun builds.

Is this something that can be done? Any suggestion and parts and such as well. Thank you for any help.

of course it CAN be done but do you want to ? that rifle seems like something that should hang on the wall to remind you of your GrandDad - for not a lot more you can purchase a Kimber Hunter 6.5 Creedmor (I just bought one for $739) It's just my 0.02

I agree with GK, Just hang it on the wall and get a new gun.
