What are you using for a bedding release agent? Just used my Teflon spray on release agent and it failed with high strength expoxy. I had a heck of a time but did get it separated. Tried my silicone and ditto same. ???????

Spray is way too thick and usually leaves some blemishes from my experience with it. Use kiwi hard shoe wax on a soft cloth, rub on then polish removing pretty much all of it except a micron film.

kiwi neutral worked for me.

things that didn't work:
Hornady one shot
birchwood casey gun grease

mixed results:
the weird wax that came with the pro-bed 2000 kit

One can Trewax paste wax is a lifetime supply for most people. It's good for protecting and knocking the shine off blued steel, too.

Ive used both brownells aerosol release agent and hornady one-shot with excellent results. I far prefer it to wax and shoe polish, thats based mostly on ease of use rather than results—they all have worked well for me. But obviously thats preference given other answers. In all cases I would test with a specific epoxy or bedding compound I havent used before actually gluing up a gun.

I use Hornady One Shot case lube. I tried using rcbs case lube (the stuff you put a few dots on a pad and roll the brass in), but didn't like it as much since it is much thicker. I've also used the release agent that comes with one of the Brownell's or Midway bedding kits. The Hornady One Shot has worked well for me, but I do spray it on a few times and let it dry completely before contact is made with the epoxy. I also find the One Shot much easier to remove from the barrel and action than others once the job is complete. A quick spray with brake cleaner or anything like that takes it right off.

McLube here for a long time but more recently tried out the Pro-Bed wax. Pro-Bed wax worked great. 2 coats just like you'd do with the Kiwi or Johnsons wax (no longer available).

A combo that works very very well. Coat the surface with Johnson’s paste wax first, then spray with Adhesive Guru epoxy mold release spray from Amazon. Works really well

But Johnson's paste wax has been discontinued. If you don't have it you might not be able to get it. That said go raid your Dad or Granddad's shop and see if they have any :ROFLMAO:

If a part isn't physically locked in like a skeletonized recoil lug, heat will make most epoxies let go. a small torch or heat gun, whatever you can use without damaging the stock.
get it too hot to touch and it should let go or at least allow you to work it out.
