REI Scarpa Charmoz boots

Great deal here for Scarpa Charmoz boots, but only one pair it seems. https://www.rei.com/product/113528/scarpa-charmoz-mountaineering-boots

As an owner of those boots, I’d say try them on before you buy. I couldn’t get used to them. I lent them to a buddy and he hated them. They’re super stiff, not shaped like a human foot, and high in the heel to the point that your toes constantly feel like they’re being crushed into a point. I’ve given up on trying to sell them, because whenever people inquire about them, I’m honest about warning them.

Hell of a deal, I love mine.. Only complaint is the orange lol, wish they were more subtle but to finally have a boot that don't eat up my feet on sidehills or rugged terrain I can get past the loud colors..

Depends mostly on the terrain you hunt, load you carry (or hope to carry), distances and style of hunting...they won't be very quiet! A lot of my hunting is for Tahr in steep and very rocky terrain, so these boots would be great. not for flat-landers!

That’s the logic that brought me to buying them. I don’t buy into that anymore. I’ve done as rough of hunts as anyone. Stiff boots are not for me in any situation.

aren’t you from the Midwest?

Tough to imagine telling a guy who hunts Tahr what’s roug

Tree lines at roughly 500 meters. Would easily get to the tops on a hunt.

super mellow slopes. Definitely not a place for stiff boots 😉A336EB2E-DE37-45F2-AEAB-E9A4990C664D.jpeg

Shit, basically eh?

you in eagle river?

I remember trying out my bosses spotter watching goats up into chugach state park. Some sweet country for sure.

Didn’t take you for matsu valley kine ;)

Stumbled on this pic looking through archive of past hunts

My wife says I end up looking and smelling like the animals i hunt. In this sense being the GOAT isn’t a compliment

If I went to the places in the picture, I’d wear the boots I own now (Asolo Shiraz). Going on a Tahr hunt doesn’t mean much to me. Could definitely be legit. Or could be a situation of paying your way to an animal. I know I go on at least two DIY backpack hunts a year. I try to go to different places every year. Some of them are in the Midwest, some not. Mostly has to do with time and budget. The reason I chimed in on this was to let people know about my experience to try to be helpful. You obviously think my opinion is worthless because I live in the Midwest. Maybe everyone doesn’t feel that way?

Have you ever side hilled in steep loose rocky scree terrain with a heavy pack or hiked over dead falls in very steep terrain with a trail runner type shoe? Ive tried it and like hunting in softer type trail runners

I love my scarpas but very uncomfortable hiking on level ground with stiff boots.

In super steep, terrain with a heavy pack - Love them
