Redding competition seating die issues with Forster coax

Cartridge is 300 rum. I set it up how you’re supposed to and back off 1/2 turn from bottomed out. I then back micrometer all way out to seat the bullet and when I do it is jammed so far in the case seating near the o give. The only way I could fix this was to back the die out about 1/2”, and now the spring only has about 3/16” of engagement instead of almost at cam over. Does this matter? This doesn’t make sense to me as I haven’t had this problem in my other caliber with this die.



Using long Vld seating stem seating nosler 210 ablr and Berger 215

This says you need a standard VLD stem. Maybe you have the long? The long stems are 3/16" longer.

I had to get a new seating stem when I had mine

You can dial the micrometer adjustment back out AND you can back the stem out on the top of the die. Have you done both?

Yes. I have the long Vld stem. According to the chart posted earlier I need the standard. It is 3/16” shorter so suspect it will make a significant difference. It will be here in a few days to try

I didn’t realize the length stem matters. I ordered the standard. Thank you. I never knew there was a chart specifying
