I’m in the construction field like a lot of people on here. Just wanted to see what people have to say about there boots and warranty. Sick and tired of going through 2-3 pairs of decent boots a year.

I just found a pair of model 5606 WORX and am wondering if anyone knows the price on them and there comfortability of them? If they are worth more or less then 125$?

I've had two pair of red wing boots in the last 15 years and I frame houses in my part time job. They hold up really well

What model or models did you have? I don’t have a dealer close so I gotta get them online

I get about 1.5 seasons out of my Redwing work boots on the farm. I must like them because I replace them with the same every time. They make Vasque boots now and I have a pair of the Saint Elias boots and quite honestly they suck. I wore Vasque for 25 years until the change and the eyelets pull out or break off requently and they will only fix them once under warranty. .

Once? I thought there big thing was “lifetime warranty” for certain things: to me. That would fall under a warranty?

Perhaps that applies to Redwings and not the Vasque line. If they don’t fix the weak eyes and hooks there is very little point in owning a pair since they break in the field often. I tried to get them to replace with heavier duty hooks but that is apparently an impossibility. I was told I probably didn’t understand how to lace them up properly. I’ve been wearing lace up boots for 50 years and never had a problem with ‘incorrect lacing’ until I bought the Saint Elias.

I’ll be staying away from them then, I have a big big problem with the front soul peeling off from the leather and then the front toe area leather getting really ripped up. It might be because I kick a lot of stuff? I’m not quite sure.. but it’s on all my boots

Last pair of RW's I had this happened (they were a pair of USA made Rw's too) with. It's a bummer to see this once great company turn south with the likes of danner and others.

My work boots over the last 20 years have pretty transitioned to become whites, nicks or wesco's.

I worked landscaping for 10 years. I could burn through a pair of boots a year without even blinking. I found that getting non laced helped them last longer. I finally settled on Georgia after trying about 5 different brands. They lasted the longest.

I work concrete, I had a pair of the classic style all leather asolos and they lasted years I finally tossed them due to the soles wearing out and I wanted to justify buying something else.
Not much last with what I do, have you looked at the lowa's?

If you go red wing I would definitely look to make sure that model is made in USA, many of them aren't. I had some that I wore exclusively under rubbers and the only lasted year and a half and really I kept them too long. The leather stretched way out. To be fair every leather boot I've had stretched out within a year or so. I'm convinced no company makes a boot capable of withstanding 2 years of work. I'm now on to buying cheaper and still getting about a year.

Sounds like all work boots are pretty much the same. They last 1-3 years depending on how much you use them and how physical you are. I thought red wing had some sort of warranty that made people really want to buy them

Redwing 953.....your welcome.
Im a ditch digger. Mud, shit, rocks. The soles dont hold mud, the leather and stitching are water tight, and after a few days they feel like a good broken in pair of basketball shoes. Cork insoles as well.
Buy them..

And last forever. I got one season out of my georgia wedges. I can get 3 seasons before a re sole on my 953s if I keep them conditioned.

I wear the Irish Setter 83909 pull on wedge sole, super comfy, going strong after 2 years of welding and a season of drilling wells. The rubber sole gets burned a little by sparks but they’re still water proof.

I worked in the oil field. Wore the 2492's. Looks like they don't make them anymore but the 2491's are similar. I dropped something sharp on the toe that ended up wearing the material down to the metal, so I had to replace them.

Besides that issue, they were the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. I even wore them hunting a few time after work because they were so comfortable.

Keep in mind the Worx line from Red Wing is kind of a budget line and not their top end. Worx will most likely be import and not US made

I am in the same boat as you about going through boots. A couple pairs ago I had the danner super rain forest and they lasted about 9 months before the sole peeled off and the stitching was coming apart. From there I tried the redwings but even with going to a redwing store and trying on multiple boots the pair that was the most comfortable in store killed my feet and I couldn’t wear them for more than a couple hours a day so I returned them after 2 weeks. Now I am using thorogoods and going on 9 mo the and still looking good. I am pretty impressed with them and they didn’t have a break in like other boots.

I have come to the realization that almost no boot stands up to 2000-2500 hours on your feet all day. I haven’t tried the nicks or whites but I hear they last a long time but I can’t ever justify spending that much on boots.

My first pair of of Redwing 4215 lasted 3 years, the sole was gone and the leather was basically toast, I bought a second pair a year ago. When these go I will buy another pair of 4215s. Most work boots would only last me 8 months or so. The big difference is how i feel at the end of the day. With the cheap boots (Ariats and Justins) I would develop knee and hip pain. I wear the Redwings nearly daily in streams, around treatment ponds with High or low pH water and mud, climbing hills; as long as I get the corrosive mud off them I'm good to go.
