recommendations on single use rifle bedding kit

Going to bed my little Kimber (action only) and looking for recommendations on a single use kit.

I've used the Probed 2000 kits several times and it's all I use at this point. I'd also recommend the aerosol release agent that LRI sells but wax will work too.

This, but any sort of paste wax will work.

Grey marinetex or JB marine weld ($7 vs $40 for marinetex), kiwi clear shoe polish, modeling clay, popsicle sticks, Q-tips, WD-40, denatured alcohol, painters tape, and Forster alignment studs are what you need.

Just buy what you don’t already have laying around off that list. Everything but the Forster studs are multi purpose and will get used for something or another.

Forster studs are the best way to go, cheapo all thread and masking tape also works in a pinch if someone is on a really tight budget.

Allthread does work but it’s also easy to **** up a bedding jobs using it. The Forster studs are smooth on the portions that protrudes from the action and won’t stick as much as threads and are also much easier to get buffed up with shoe polish. I would not recommend allthread if someone is not experienced with bedding. Someone asking for a kit is probably not experienced in bedding rifles.

I didn't see Kimber on Forsters list of action screws; anyone know if they are the same as any that are listed?

I used JB Weld for my last one. It was very easy to use. I used Imperial Die Wax as a release agent. Worked great.

I’ve used acraglass and probed 2000. The acraglass was easier to work with. The probed was thick and difficult to spread. The acra-release wasn’t great. Wax release was excellent. For my next job I’ll do JB Weld with wax release.

I just used the regular two tube deal that you can get just about anywhere. I don’t know if that’s the right one to use or not. Lol

Don't use jb quick cure varieties. Regular steel....and lots of q tips and wd40 to wet the q tips for clean up.

On JB Weld, would recommend you give it a little time to thicken before applying it. It’s kind of runny compared to MarineTex, but if you give it 20-30 min or so, it’s thicker to apply. You can test out ahead of time what timeframe to get your desired consistency since it’s cheap.

I just did one with a product called ding-all marketed for surf board repair, it's lighter than other bedding compounds. Stock inlet was for a much larger barrel than I have

Acraglass gel is easy to use and stiff enough to not run. The release has to be applied in two coats, and hasn’t been a problem.

Having said that, any number of epoxies work - just experiment with the release before using it on a rifle.
