I'd like to hunt a grizzly up north in the Yukon or the North West Territories in 2026. Looking for recommendations on Outfitters that you have used and how your hunt went overall?

Bonus points for Outfitters that advertise in Canadian dollars.

FYI -Only NWT residents can hunt grizzly there.
Interesting, where are you seeing that written? I've skimmed through the Reg and didn't see any exclusions. I'm a Canadian resident but not a NWT resident.

This outfitter seems to be advertising NWT arctic grizzly hunts:

Another One:

From the Reg: Prices for both Non-Resident and Non-Resident Alien hunters.

Well now that you ask - I’ve just heard it many times, on the internet, so it must be true, haha…. I was also told that by the outfitter when I hunted there as they wished they could guide hunters due to bear problems. Hopefully someone will chime in here and correct me if I’m giving you bad info.

I thought the outfitters outside the McKenzies have the ability to hunt the barren grizzlies. Didn't they officially split the NWT into two distinct provinces?

Nunavut Territory was split off in 1999. I believe they have grizzlies as well, and polar bear.

It's not Canada but it's above the Arctic Circle on the North side of the Brooks Range in Alaska. I hunted with Ovis Outfitters in the fall of 2019. I was fortunate to get a 7 1/2' grizzly bear that was 14 years old. He is absolutely gorgeous. Ovis Outfitters is a first class operation with good people and good equipment. I don't think you could go wrong hunting with them on their spring hunt or their fall hunt.

for the yukon make sure your outfitter did not oversold his/her quota for the year or the three years ones. they are ruled by point and are impacted by the harvest of us: resident hunters ... many hunters has paid for grizzly hunt with no luck not because they did not see any ...

for the $cad i will suggest to contact the local guys and check with them if they are willing to draw your hunt in our canadian pesos .... no an us company will take them ...

i will suggest to hunt for moose on a good area for at least 2 weeks and stay around the carcass, it is almost a guarantee for the big boss coming to check and eat first the guts then hide the carcass ...

the higher up you will go hunting the smaller our grizzly are with of course the usual exception.

best of luck in your hunting adventure.

Are you aware of any outfitters that price their hunts in CAD? I've read that in the past some outfitters would do an equal exchange of hunt costs between USD/CAD but I can't see that happening today with the exchange rates.

i will say the best way is to contact the ones that are local resident here in the Yukon and after maybe the ones with a canadian adress ... thus might have no problem to certainly charging in our canadian pesos but i doubt they will do on par like in the past ... but who knowd ...

So in doing my research I have checked out each of the Yukon outfitters listed here.

https://www.yukonoutfittersassociation.com/outfitter-directory

It's been a little frustrating but from what I can see on the websites, only about half of the outfitters advertise hunt pricing. Of those that do, 100% list their hunt prices in USD...

The cheapest I'm seeing so far is $30,000 USD for a guided Grizzly hunt. One outfitter lists the same hunt for $20,000 USD but if successful, a $15,000 USD harvest fee is applied. Caribou as example appear to be priced very comparatively to the Grizzly hunts. All of these costs have taken me back, I didn't realize they had climbed this high (approaching $50,000 Canadian).

I'm going to follow up with all the outfitters that don't advertise their prices online, there may be a deal to be found there.

Otherwise I'm hoping the NWT prices are a little more affordable, I'm looking for the $20,000-$30,000 range CAD all in.

some outfitters are not members of the Yukon outfitter assocation ... but yes price went up. if you coming up here do not book only for grizzly ... it might be a very expensive camping trip ...

not the same grizzly in NWT: it will be a barrenground one and be ready for the price tag ...
