Looking for recommendations for a replacement stock that does not need bedding - basically a chassis- for a Savage 223 bottom bolt release with removable magazine. Magazine is a center feed. This model does not appear to have an attached recoil lug like the others I have. I have already replaced the barrel with a Shilen and want to improve the stock set up. Looking to keep additional fitting to a minimum and or having to make major changes to the mag well. Weight is not that much of an issue as factory stock is 40 oz's. Goal is to stay under 48 oz's. I do not want a Choate as the fit is poor based on previous experience. Budget is $450 max.

I will weigh my MDT chassis I can sell it under $400
Edit listed on MDT at 3.9, very unlikely to come in lower

I spoke with MDT today and they are uncertain if any of the stocks would work based on first the age of the rifle and action screw spacing. I’ll hunt down serial # to determine age, however, the MDT,s are built for 2018 models and newer. The age makes a difference as apparently Savage was all over the map with standard specs at that time.
