Recommendations for mid to late Oct Colorado hunting clothing

Planning my first Colorado elk rifle hunt (mid-late Oct). Plan on doing lots of daily hiking during hunt. I would appreciate any recommendations for good clothing that as cost friendly as possible and best place to buy it. Also would appreciate any suggestions for recommended layering strategies and type of materials to use and those to avoid.
