Recommendations for a new sling

Been hunting with a paracord style sling for a few years now and I think it’s time to upgrade. Drives me insane when it slides off my shoulders. I’m interested in the gun bearer from kifaru but I do a lot of day trips so don’t always run my main pack. What are you guys using?

I have numerous to choose from. The slogan outdoors is nice but very heavy for what it is. The Slogan never slips. Trying a basic web with leather grip strip this year. They are $12 and I’ve used it for practice a few times.

Slogan Outdoors rubber band style sling for me as well since I was a kid and my dad showed me how to wrap my support arm through it for more solid standing shooting squirrels out of trees with my .22.

Curious if sling stabilization was utilized in the shoot2hunt course. @Q_Sertorius may have more insight as I’ve never taken the class.

Slings are highly disfavored at the S2H course. They apply torque to the rifle. With that said, I have used them a ton in hunting situations.

Interesting, I wondered since it seems western hunting based and oriented. I should do a comparison with off hand shots braced with rubber band sling vs unbraced. I’ve always thought it was giving me more stability and presumably better accuracy but have never verified it. Would still think the stability would outweigh torque accuracy impacts at the ranges I off hand shoot at ~75 yards and in.

We use Kifaru gun bearer and no sling. Maybe sling in pack but don’t really use it. Gun bearer can fit all these packs including smallest day pack so long as it has good waistband and some internal frame.

I just got the FHF sling and pack attachment but haven’t used it yet. I bought it because it seemed lightweight and not overly bulky. My reason that I bought it was that I wanted my hand free when hiking and didn’t want my rifle to constantly slip off my shoulder. I’ll give an update once I use it.

I used to use a safari sling, currently switched to the gun bearer. Currently am rigging up gun bearer to be able to put behind shoulder for hiking in the dark or steep terrain. Having it in front drives me crazy when headlamp is on.

Another vote for the slogan outdoors sling. I can comfortably hike without worrying about my rifle sliding around on my shoulder or needing a hand to hold it in place.

If you are shooting offhand with no other available support, I think a sling can still be very valuable.
