Recommend a handgun for back country protection

Must just be your areas, in my area and the three states I work in and frequent gun shops in there's good numbers of pistols available,and at their normal price points,heck the local farm stores are selling shields for 299.99.

I'd say 10mm also. They are pretty easy to find online. I carry a glock 20 while hunting and it has been great. I plan to try a Springfield xdm 10mm soon.

Ammo seems more readily available when people panic buy too.

I don't carry bear spray, but my wife does. She keeps a second can in her kit, so that if she uses part or all of the first can, she's not then "unarmed". She also has a revolver that she sometimes carries. The .44 I carry is heavy, like the weight of 2 cans of soup.
