Can you use a pistol cartridge rifle for deer? Many states allow those. A 357 mag single shot will kill any deer you can find, as long as it is inside 125 yards or so.
Otherwise I'd use a lighter load on the ML and skip the sabot loads. We always used granules as opposed to pellets.
