A buddy of mine ask me whether it was worth while doing a rebarrel on a 760 Rem. pump. Said he bought it at a gun auction and it is not accurate at all. Its a 270 and he would like to keep it a 270. Has anyone done this and what were the results.

Figure $500 to rebarrel a 760. It's a bit more involved than a bolt action. You have to have a wrench to remove the barrel extension, or make one.

A good smith that understands them can make them quite accurate, but that smith might be able to improve what he has as it. Could just be a loose barrel bracket bolt. Usually, you do some work to the barrel bracket so it mates to the receiver in a positive and rigid manner. The barrels are the same as the 700, and rarely "bad". It's typically play in the barrel to receiver mating.
