I need a new can and narrowed it down to these two. I'm putting it on a Tikka 300 WSM cut to 20 inches with 1/2 inch threads. I really want the short overall length of the OG but I also want the option of being able to add a brake that the Reaper has. I'm currently using a 300 Omega with the ASR mount and factory brake, comfortable to shoot but long and heavy. Over 20 ounces. I'm not sure if I need a break or not with this rifle. I'm tempted to just get the OG 30 and if it's uncomfortable then it can go on my wife's 308 to replace her A-10 but then I won't be able to get a Reaper until next year. Stupid Colorado laws coming into effect have me spending too much money on stuff now.

If you’re able to wait a little they have a new version of the reaper that should be out soon. It’s an OTB version like the OG30.

300 WSM’s are a little punchy. I’d run a reaper and brake to keep muzzle rise down. If you’re okay with muzzle rise, the og30 sounds amazing and would kick butt on the 308 too.

Don’t the OG30s sort of suck??? Aren’t they fairly loud? There’s some used ones available if you go that route.

Cool, I didn’t know there was a new one. Sucks for the guys who got stuck with the original ones.

I wouldn’t say the gen 1 suck. I can think of quite a few cans that are louder, etc. There’s just better out there, especially within the last year with all the advancements. But like I said in another post, we’ve learned a lot and now I can confidently say the og30 gen 2 is very good and I’m excited we re did it because holding back advances in our learning, testing, technology would be doing our customers a disservice not making them better when we got to the point we knew we could.

There’s other companies out there that have hardly changed their products in the last 5-10 years. We won’t be one of them.

Will the New version Reaper have new tech?
Hope it is. Cant wait till August 😉

I just shot my 30-06 with a Reaper, gosh dang it is so pleasant to shoot. Recoil is reduced to basically nothing.
Sound reduction is very good, I don't have any decibel reading equipment, but its impressively quiet.

That said, the OG30 is a can I will likely buy next year. I love the Reaper, but the reflex design would be nice on my 22" 06.

Can someone argue to me for ordering new OG30 over the reaper I can buy locally?
By the specs, weight is almost the exact same, the reaper is marked as 3dB quieter by US, and I can add a brake if I really wanted. Is it just the 2" on the end of the barrel and balance point?

I run the reaper on a bunch of rifles, with or without a brake on it. It gets swapped around a bunch.

I have an OG6.5 on my 16" 6.5 PRC that pretty much permanently lives on that gun. Its 8.5 lbs and I was able to watch my bullet go into a bear at 365 yards. Pretty sweet setup and still hearing safe on that gun even with the 16" magnum.

My gen1 OG replaced an Omega 300 (un-braked). In comparison it's 4 oz lighter, 2 in shorter, and just as quiet. Where's the suck?
I guess it’s all relative. If you switch from a crappy car to a slightly less crappy car it’s an upgrade right?

And crappy/suck/etc are just descriptive words. I was under the impression that the origional og30 was fairly underwhelming is all.
