Check out https://www.fuelly.com/car for real world fuel economy. It's crowd sourced data from thousands of fill ups. I've personally logged nearly 66k miles on there in my GMC Sierra (that I've now driving 114k miles). My average mpg over the logged miles is 17.4.

2011 Nissan Xterra Pro4
33" tires
Straight Hwy = ~17.5mpg (best was 19mpg)
Straight City = ~14mpg
Mixed = ~15.5mpg

Before I upgraded to 33"s and ran the stock 265s, I could get 20 sometimes on the highway. Upgrade cost me ~1mpg.

13.5-14.5 if I’m nice on the pedal. 11-12 if I’m not.

“stock” (factory lift, 33” tires, winch, lockers, and 4:10’s)
6.4L

Average 11.5 MPG for all driving

I do use all the “stuff” pretty regularly and would guess a 50/50 use of hi way vs off road use. I love the truck comfortable and super capable, but what a gas pig.

2017 version here. Same type numbers. 285-75-17

Average 11-12 combined driving.

As good as 17-18 on freeway.

Towing a cargo trailer on hunting trips 9-10.5.

2016 Expedition Limited. 3.4L Ecoboost, twin turbo (only one motor that year).

With Pedal Commander set to economy, about 20 mpg in 70:30 city/highway miles.

Pedal Commander set to "City 3", about 19.

Max is over 40.2 mpg at 49 mph with ethanol free fuel.20180220_131502.jpg

Lets do a data base thread on what kind of fuel mileage you are getting in your truck.

Post your trucks year, motor and any mods with the fuel mileage...minimum commentary.

My 2012 Tundra with the 5.7L, Icon suspension that lifts it about 2" and 33" Toyo's is getting 13.6 all around [mostly city] and gets 15 on the highway averaging 75 mph.
Gear ratio and tire size are as important as engine size and transmission type when it comes to fuel mileage. Same as stop and go vs highway driving. Lots of factors really. Anyway....

First gen 4runner, 3.4l v6, open cone style k&n air filter, exhaust work, manual 5speed, dual tcases, 35 12.5 15s, 4.30:1 axle gears and selectable rear locker, (used to have spooled rear). Mostly back roads and highways out here but get er into town on occasion. I tend to rip it around and fuel economy goes out the window, something about a manual trans that makes a guy wanna stretch the legs out on ‘er, ya know what I’m sayin?
It was getting around 15mpg average last time I checked it. But the Speedo isn’t calibrated for the 35s so total miles per tank of fuel is probably more so mpgs are probably higher.

It picked up an mpg when I did wheel bearings and brakes a couple years ago.

2008 Nissan frontier with 115k. 12 city and teens on the highway. If lucky I can get 20. I do have a raised cap on the back and run stock size AT's.

'01 Ford Excursion with 6.8L V10 with 180,000 miles. Its got some basic exhaust mods and a tuner to help with transmission management for mountain driving. 2" lift and 285 BFG KO2's. 10 mpg no matter how its loaded which sucks but its a weekender/hunting rig only. It's not a commuter.
