I am replacing a barrel on my tikka 6 creed and am wondering if it makes sense to chop this next one even smaller.

I had an 18” omr prefit that was getting me around 2730 which I felt was slow. Very accurate however.

Just picked up an ace blank.

Any real world velocities with corresponding barrel lengths using factory 108 eldm ammo would be helpful. Thanks

Longer than you’re looking for, I think, but here are results with my 20” Bartlein barrel, 4 shot groups.
Lot 4256 = 2,800 fps ES 34.7 SD 13.8
Lot 2786 = 2,882 fps ES 6.5 SD 2.5

Berger factory 105 hybrid ammo - 2,740 fps, ES 15.0 SD 5.7

I’m getting 2746 from my 18” preferred barrel. I’m pretty sure my last lot was a fair bit faster than this tho. I just can’t remember the number anymore

I get one lot of ELDM going 2795 and the next lot going 2960 in a 24" barrel. then a third lot somewhere in between.

It's more lot dependent than anything. buy a box, take it straight to the range and check the speeds if you're getting good numbers and it shoots, go back to the store and stock up.

18” PVA 7 twist…

Last lot was 324355 avg 2780 for 300 rounds.
New lot is 3245238 avg 2818 for 30 rounds so far.

Tikka stock .243 barrel, rechambered to 6CM, and cut to 21” - Shooting Factory 108ELD-M getting 2850.

Love seeing this thread as I’ve been debating on building an 18”.
