Fake. Real ones are for over achievers and set unrealistic expectations for the rest of us. May you all burn in hell.

If I am ever rich enough to build, I am putting a closet in my house, big enough to put the tree in so I only have to set it up once. Wheel it out of the closet the day after Thanksgiving. Wheel it back in December 26.

Ed McMahon had a Christmas Room in his house that was decorated all the time. You could do that and just shut the door during the off season.

Origin was not a symbol for the cross. Norse pagans decorated a fir tree outside, they it was outlawed by the Christian rulers so they moved it inside to avoid prosecution. Much of our Christmas symbology was adapted from northern European pagan tradition. It was easier to alter the meaning of existing customs vs ban them in the end.
Yeah I was going to say that symbolism claim seemed like a bit of a reach lol.

I was a real tree guy for years. Then I had kids and realized how crazy those sum bitches burn with the slightest spark. I am now a fake tree guy until my kids aren't walking liabilities that destroy everything they touch.

Are your kids walking around with a torch? How does a Christmas tree catch fire because of little ones? I have little ones and real trees every year. My boy is a monster destroyer with most things but so far the trees are never messed with.

My kids have never tried to burn the tree down, but I did have one fall over so now I tie it off every year.

We have a fake one, same one we have had for 20 years. Still looks nice. I love a blue spruce, but they are usually pretty dead when they get here and don't last through Christmas down my way. In fact they more resemble a tumbleweed than a Christmas tree by the time Christmas arrives. PLUS they go for over $150.

Real. Cut down in Shoshone National Forest.

Morally irresponsible to use a fake tree as fish habitat in a pond/lake.
Morally irresponsible to burn a fake tree in a rad bonfire for New Year's Eve.

For those of you with young children and fake trees, you're depriving them of fond Christmas memories. I hope they put you in the nursing home in your 50's.

100% real. Only used fake when I lived in apartment where real was against the rules. For all the people complaining about the hassle of setting the thing up, I'm guessing you must not have the same tradition as my family where we all get together to and drink Bailey's while we decorate? To me, decorating is one of the best parts of Christmas

As kids we demanded real trees and my dad always obliged. Now that I'm the one vacuuming up the needles and cleaning the sap (and the $150 price tag for them now) we decided to try a fake one a few years ago and haven't looked back. They're a no-brainer if you have young kids and even look pretty realistic now.

No, they don't have access to torches. They don't have access to scissors or knives either yet they still find a way, lol. My 3 year old daughter is not the problem, its my 1.5 year old son. Homie has no fear and is really good about getting into things he isn't supposed to. I am not overly concerned with them burning the tree down, but I am concerned with it accidently catching on fire. The last real tree I had was a 7'er and when I stuck it in the fire pit, no joke, 10 seconds and it was 25' tall flames.

We have a fake tree, but don't use it. My daughter and I just cut one behind the house every year. Obviously the perfect charlie brown trees are all we have but the kid grabs her fake Stihl chainsaw and helps me.

I grew up going out and cutting our own tree. Cost was $10.00 for a tree tag from the BLM office. Did it for a few years with my wife after we were married. She convinced me into getting a fake one after too many trees fell over and I got tired of putting them back up, attached them to the wall, pine sap, needles, etc. I do miss the adventure of going out and finding the right tree but I don’t miss the mess.

Sounds like you have the same 1.5 year old as me! Mine is also obsessed with wall outlets.

The trees def light up easy come January in my burn pile. It’s fun!

I didn't vote since I do both. Real one at the house and at the office, fake one in my house about hour away.

We have our Christmas dinner at our house on the river an hour away. This year we went to go put the tree up and rats has eaten the wiring and other stuff...oh well.
