Real life scams , whats the best you've seen ?

You dont realize that not a single person agrees with you? When that happens it's time to take a step back and really think.

Every single thread on this forum is full of friendly jabs and jokes at other people's expense. We all take it and dish it out. How you've been here for over 3k posts and havent realized this is alarming. No one insulted you. No one did anything even remotely wrong. Ive seen people get banned for behaving the way you are behaving.

Bank called me the other day, seriously. Said they noticed suspicious activity in sc. I live in va. But I was just in a foreign country for a resort style vacation. They asked if I spent xxxx amount at Best Buy in sc. I told them no, they said there are two transactions one for 4.00 and one for 1500. I said nope. He said awesome, we wanna catch thee fraudsters. Can you log into your account and tell me how much is in there so we can make sure we’re both looking at the same thing. Then I look at the number and it’s a Vermont area code not a 1800 number although Vermont is 1802. I said I can’t access it at the moment. He said I’m gonna text you a link to click and then I need you to log on, the link ended with some odd shit and I said my phones dying, call me back in 5. He said sir, we don’t have time yiur account is being compromised.

I hung up and called my bank they said nope, it’s a scam. The dude didn’t stop calling for like 30 min.

Ironically enough I left the house right after and went to gas station and a white van pulled up and asked if I wanted to buy and home entertainment systems hahahahaah. I was like na pimp! People still use that shit?

This is exactly the reason why I set my phone to only allow calls from individuals that are in my contacts list. If they are not in my contacts list, they go right to voicemail. If it is legit, and not a scam - or it is important, they will leave a message. And then I will call them back. No message, no return phone call. Cuts down on scammers and phone ringing randomly throughout the day.

A close relative fell for one by another family member. He was duped into believing this guy had cracked the code to day trading (during the dot.com boom), and he invested the majority of his retirement savings with the family member.

Everything was good until it fell apart, and the family member spent 10 years in federal prison.

This is exactly the reason why I set my phone to only allow calls from individuals that are in my contacts list. If they are not in my contacts list, they go right to voicemail. If it is legit, and not a scam - or it is important, they will leave a message. And then I will call them back. No message, no return phone call. Cuts down on scammers and phone ringing randomly throughout the day.

Happened where I worked, hr person got an email from the “ceo” asking for employee info. So she sent it, then when people started filing tax returns they were rejected. Turns out the scammers took the employee info and filed fake tax returns right away and took the refunds. Wasn’t caught until people filed the real returns and there was already a return on file with the irs.

Oh geez. I got a buddy who woulda been Lucky if someone did this to him. He didn’t file for 3 years and ended up back pay on the 4th. If only someone woulda scammed him

My dad whose health has been rapidly declining here in most recent history was scammed bad last summer. It was an ai scam and in short he thought he was talking to a legitimate person who was running a legitimate investment platform. The whole thing was so sad mainly because if he was in good health never would have considered something like this. He got duped hard.

You didn't miss much , he thinks he is superior to everyone else on the board and that he should be able to dictate how the entire membership behaves , with instructions on the proper use of emoji's .
I think it's a scam ,
