Real life backcountry food safety with bears??

If your food is coming with you during the day...just sleep with it or stash it near your tent at night and maybe have some kind of warning system simple string with a couple bells on it so if something tries to get into at night you know.

Otherwise I wouldn't cook in or right by my tent. would suck to come back and have a bear tear camp up just because of smell.

Just hang it, lazy. Leaving food readily available is bad for humans and bad for bears. Just because they're black bears doesn't mean they don't get hungry and make "poor" decisions.

Ever see how well "man's best friend" always leaves the meat in the bowl after you say "no" and go to bed?
