Seeing if anyone has any experience with a rattling sound that has developed in my new Stockys VG. Stock did not arrive with it and I’ve handled it a bunch. If I didn’t have so much work into it I’d just call them up. I bedded a howa mini yesterday, popped it out this morning. It took a few good hits to pop it but nothing extraordinary. Removed barreled action to admire my first bedding job and quickly heard what can only be described as little pieces of stuff rattling around in the butt. I haven’t messed with that area at all but guessing that the impact to pop the action out broke some foam or fill loose.
No biggie, right? I’ll remove the recoil pad and get it out of there. They glued the F$&King thing on!
Any suggestions? I don’t believe it will hurt the stock in any functional way. You have to shake the stock to get it to rattle, But it will bug me.
Do nothing and live with it? Won’t hear it while shooting.
Drill a small hole and fire some thin epoxy in there to see it I can tame whatever came loose? It’s still raw carbon and will be painted.
Any experience removing one of these recoil pads?
I’ve probably voided warranty as I drilled into it up front for a Spartan gunsmith plug and a UM Spartan/pic rail.
