Might be a fun post. I ran across this one today. Big and sassy in the Nebraska Sandhills.

We flipped him in the water multiple times with the net but he kept swimming back in so we beached it and flipped him out onto the sand. All we had were fishing rods and a landing net but made for a cool picture. He was ticked.

We have had them swim in the boat here to once in the water they better not come back or they die in the water

When I find them in the driveway, I shoot them, #12 shot in a 41mag and the problem is solved.

Where abouts in the Sandhills? I explored a lot around Valentine and South to Thedford when I lived in that country. I heard of a few on the south refuge but a lot along the rivers

Ran into this guy on Saturday. I only had my 22 Creedmoor on me, which made it a little more difficult to dispatch. Lesson learned - carry my pistol when I’m in the canyons!

I’ve killed a lot of them, especially working and hunting in the oilfields in NM. The only time that really spooked me was hunting deer in September a few years back, I stand up from glassing to piss, and look down to see a snake had crawled right up to my feet. I couldn’t scare it away (didn’t want to shoot it since we knew there was a big deer in the area). I was not very effective in hunting the rest of the day

Was walking through hip tall grass turkey hunting with my bow. Stepped on what felt like a wet cow patty. Turned around and spotted him. Didn’t strike, didn’t even rattle. I told ol snattlerake he gave me a pass, so I’ll do the same. And we are even.

He was getting close to 4’. IMG_1386.jpegStarted wearing snake boots after that.IMG_1387.jpeg
