I am trying out a new pair of range finding binos. Am I the only one that finds the display distracting? It almost seems like the display would be better moved over to the outer edge of the glass vs where is it at. It is my first time trying RF binos so maybe it's just me but I figure I would ask those with more experience with them.

Were you using a Vectronix with an etched reticle? Most LRF binos have an electronic display that turns off after an idle period until a button is pressed, so there is no permanent visible reticle.

No, it is a set of the Vortex Fury binos. Like I said I am new to RF binos so maybe it is just me and I need to get used to it. It just seems like the display would impede in seeing an animal in the ocular.

I have only looked through the Fury's once at a match, but they definitely had an electronic reticle. On any LRF bino without an etched reticle, the ranging reticle and information disappears after 10-20 seconds of inactivity. At that point, you have the same view as a traditional binocular.

Play with brightness so it's still visible but less invasive. There's no reason to activate the RF unless you are ready to take a shot. Sure, it's fun to just see what distance things are at, but it sounds like your curiosity is contributing to your discomfort. Stop playing with it until you need it.

The glass isn't that bad to where you're gonna lose an animal because you tried to range it.
