Is there a simple 500 yard rf that gives horizontal distance minus all of the whistles and bells and sirens and flashing lights?

I have the older style Nikon 440 and it will range down to 10 or 11 yards - the only thing I wish it had is the angle compensating but it works great.

I have a 4-5 year old Nikon. It works great from 11-800 yards. Small, simple, fairly inexpensive.

Look for an older Leica LRF 900. I used it for bow hunting and rifle hunting and found it to be spot on. I see them on ebay for less than $300. I bought a Leupold RX-1000 this year but only because of it's size, otherwise I would still be using the Leica.

I would think the bushnell chuck Adams falls right into this category and you can find them for 150 to 200$. I have one right now it's not my favorite but it works....I want to vortex ranger 1000

I have used a sandwich shaped Leica LRF 1200 since they were released. The old Leicas are spot on go down to about 15 yds, but lack angle calculations.

In the terrain I hunt and the ranges I'm willing to shoot the angle calculations are not an issue for my .300 Win. I worked out the geometry and for my bow from a tree stand the difference is less than 2 yards out to 60 yds so I just can't see spending the extra $$ for the angle stuff.
