Sig 2000 has worked flawlessly up until blizzard conditions. For me anyway.

It sounds like the OP's experience occurred in relatively flat terrain and low-contrast conditions. This is a challenge for any laser rangefinder. The sheep hunt had steeper terrain which is much easier to get reliable bounce. As far as snow and clouds, changing the mode can help, as it did for me with the Zeiss Victory RF this year. Changing to the "Longest reading" mode improved performance dramatically in those conditions.
