I used a CB radio microphone hanger and button (The round thing that mounts to the CB mic) to make the perfect rangefinder holder that I mounted to my bino harness.

This allows me to mount the rangefinder up high minimizing arm movement and keeping it away from other gear. I also never have to search to get it back into a pouch. By mounting it high, I was also able to shorten the lanyard, which is nice in case things happen quickly and you need to drop it. It won't be swinging back and forth on a 20" lanyard while the elk of your dreams is looking at you. It is also super solid when hiking around, it doesn't swing back and forth, which was an issue when I used the retractable Nikon rangefinder tether.

This is a simple project, but I truly do LOVE it. I've used it for elk and deer for 4 seasons and it is flat out awesome.

That's awesome. Funny i was just 3D printing a mic holder for my truck radio the other day. Might need to modify that so I can attach it to my bino harness.

Great idea!!

Great idea! After making a sling that attaches to the shoulder strap and waist belt of my pack I have been thinking of something for the range finder next.

You're a freaking genius. Been looking for something like this for a while. How do you attatch it to the webbing? Wonder if pop rivets would work..

I just used some small bolt's/nuts with some loctite on the threads. I heated up a small metal rod with a torch and melted it through the nylon straps where I wanted the hanger to be and put the bolts through that.

That is freaking brilliant, I have a few old radios/mounts kicking around so now I'm going to have a wee looksie at what I can come up with 🤔

Great idea! Might have to give this a try. I’ve been using a cheapo fishing lanyard I found at Walmart. You can buy 2 for $1.88. Basically a cheap Kuiu lanyard.

What’s even better is a bino-rangefinder combo. Why carry both? It’s a lot quicker just pressing a button on your binos to get a range rather than switching back and forth between binos and rangefinder. I would much rather carry just one!
