Random question- windshield wipers

What is a quality windshield wiper that is not out outrageously priced?

Bosch has been good for me.

Watch Rockauto and buy them when they do sales on them. I buy them two or three at a time when the deal is good.

I recently put some Bosch on my tundra. Hadn’t bought a set in several years and was pretty blown away by how expensive they are.

Tried quite a few and Bosch was the clear winner for me. Specifically the Bosh Icon, has lasted 2 years so far.

Went and looked what I ordered from rockauto last for my wife’s car. TRICO is the brand and we put them on July of 2023. Still going and they were 10 bucks a piece.

Rain-X worked pretty good for the few months they lasted. Our "dirt" is pretty abrasive and we put cinders on our roads in the winter, none of them last very long.

You can buy wiper blade refills on Amazon, currently $8 for 4. The frames will last 10 years or more if you replace the blades every year or two. For some reason, the parts houses stopped carrying the refills, and paying $20-$30 for each frame + blade became the norm.

At work, we just get the cheapest ones from Napa. I usually just replace them each fall just because. Other guys replace them every time it rains.

rockauto is definitely the way to go, store prices on wipers are crazyyy. can always get 5% off at rockauto too if you google up the monthly coupon.

i like trico beam style, but my one car hates beam wipers and will only get a good wipe with a traditional frame wiper, go figure

I've found that every expensive set of wipers I've purchased starts streaking a couple of weeks or months in. Stopped chasing the imaginary 10,000 streak-free wipes unicorn.

We get a lot of blow sand here, no matter what I've bought, I can't hardly get a year or of them at the most.

If you take some steel wool and rub the wiper back and forth along the length of it you can regenerate the life for a little while

Another vote for Bosch Icon with Trico Flex coming in second as a solid budget option. The last set of Rain-X I bought were no better than the worn out Bosch they were replacing.

I've switched to a glass cleaner with ceramic for the outside of all my glass. Makes a huge difference.

I keep my truck cleaner than most people though.

Clean the blades with brakeclean or rubbing alcohol once in awhile too they get a film on them. Helps for awhile

I used to get regular Trico's at Walmart for $4 before covid. Now the only thing similar is the Michelin's but they're about $7. I like this old frame style because they're cheap, they work, and I can replace both in about a minute. They last about a year for me, so I just change them out every year right before hunting season.
