Sitka Cloudburst Jacket vs Stone Glalcier M5 Jacket.

Which one is superior as far as water proof/breathability, weight, etc?

I currently own the Cloudburst. Looking at getting away from the camo patterns and enjoy SG equipment. But trying to decide if it would be worth the swap.

Thoughts, personal experiences, etc are welcome.

Both companies make good products. I prefer Sitka for my hunting attire but I have many pieces of SG camping equipment and I use their stuff as daily wear.

I do believe the SG series has the highest waterproof rating within the hunting brands, 31,000mm rating. I have one and I love the feel but I havent had the chance to put it to the test yet.

I have owned the M5 and now use the dewpoint. Although the dewpoint is significantly lighter I actually think it is more durable than the M5. M5 fits great and did like it but got a tear in it from a desk chair running over it. For backpack hunting the sitka dewpoint is hard to beat.

I’d second looking at the dew point as well Sitka had them on sale a few weeks back. Haven’t tried the m5 but a buddy has an m7 that was very nice I think flipping a coin if your paying full price or what ever one you can find a deal on

I have the Dewpoint and the M7. Both are perfect for their intended uses.

The m5 and the m7 from stone glacier are much different than one another. the m7 is fleece lined making it warmer, heavier and less packable. the m5 is more of a rain shell where the m7 is more like you're hunting in alaska

I just got new rain gear this year. After a ton of research and checking all of them out that I could, I went with the Kuiu Katana. I've enjoyed the set so far and look forward to putting it to the test this year.

I'm typically a Sitka guy but the reviews weren't very confidence inspiring on their rain gear.

I recently bought the M5 set from scheels on a smoking deal, better then pro deal from SG. Used it on a Keni River float trip and it was awesome.

I had the M5 and Cloudburst at the same time. I kept the Cloudburst and grabbed a Dewpoint set for my super light system.

M5 is nice but Cloudburst to me is nicer.

I can't speak to the M5 specific but I just got back from alaska and I had the M7 and only took that and left my cloudburst at home. I wish I had brought my cloudburst and a pair of hiking pants. we were never in downpour rain just a steady rain for days in a row with a day of sunshine then back to rain. the M7 soaked up the rain after the first half day of rain and by the end of the day I was wet inside. I know that unless you have a rubber pair that all of it will soak through after enough time but on the sunny days my gear took a much longer time to dry out than my buddies gear. the material is great and very durable and i was happy with everything I was just surprised how much faster I got wet underneath compared with my my buddies.
