Rain Gear

I too have the original iteration of KUIU Chugach pants and jacket. Despite the years and supposed improvements by all rain gear companies, I have yet to get wet in my Chugach stuff. Before that I had Sitka and it was good but did develop problems in the pants from time and use. Obviously the KUIU was hundreds of dollars less than comparable Sitka or FL stuff and that only made the decision easier. I contacted KUIU and discussed my pending purchase for an upcoming trip. At that time I was told to wear it hard and use it. If it failed or failed to please me, I could return it for a refund. I kept it and the truth is it's the best dollar I've ever spent on rain gear.

I suppose there might be something out there with additional features...different camo...styling....and I would like it. The rub is I am 100% dry and fully satisfied, so spending more money makes no sense to me. If my Chugach was destroyed I would buy more Chugach and wouldn't spend a minute or extra dollar on a different choice.

Chugach jacket here. No complaints. Best hood on any rain gear I've ever tried. I've used it for a wind jacket many times while glassing.
I rarely have needed rain pants and then I use Core4element that I picked up on camofire.

For the PNW you are going to get wet in anything less than some serious rain gear like helly hansen, or grundens. Both of those will make you sweat so bad on the inside it really won't make matter that the rain isn't getting to you. For me personally I have found a happy medium in the Sitka cloudburst set it is light enough that I can have it riding around in my pack, and not really worry about it. I hunt both sides of Washington which are very different weather wise, and I also hunt Idaho the cloudburst has fit my needs pretty well across the board.

I have a Kuiu Yukon set - love it except that the pockets aren't waterproof. Luckily my phone was because it sat in a pool of water for hours. Literally had to bend sideways and dump the pocket out.
