Buy once cry once. I have KUIU rain gear and I wont leave home without it. I end up wearing it most of the time when it's not raining.

I have carried a rain jacket but not pants. Last year in mid Sept CO it rained off and on all night. When I hiked in the next morning the brush was so wet it soaked my timberline pants. When I got to my spot I was so cold it was hard to stay out. Once the sun finally made it out I dried out and was good. Now I will have a pair of pants for that occasion. That sucked!

Colorado for the most part is dry and then you have your afternoon showers. I now carry nothing but frog toggs from walmart 29 bucks. They are light, super light as a matter of fact and work just fine for my style of hunting. They are light enough to carry all day without a weight penalty.

If I know going in that the week will be a mess, rain and maybe even snow, then the big stuff comes out but for most years, you're looking for shade and on the chance it rains, frog togg away. Storm passes, off they come.

Edit, I'm 100% archery Aug-Sept

This is the reason why I ALWAYS have pants, but sometimes do not take the jacket.
