Rail or not? Tikka Superlight

This is my first rifle build and trying to figure some things out. I have Tikka T3x Superlight 7 Rem Mag with a Zeiss V4 3-12 44mm scope. Trying to figure out if I need a rail (local gun shop says I do, friends say I don't), and if i don't use a rail, what type of rings mount directly to a Tikka? Goal here is to keep the whole thing durable (first priority) and streamlined (it is already very light, so not too worried about the weight of a rail) for local Idaho mountain hunting. Thx.

I don’t have rails on any of my Tikkas, including Superlites.

I use Talley one piece lightweight alloy low mounts. The style I use are no longer available. The bases are milled to fit over the dovetail and they fit a little lower than lows, but my objectives still clear the barrel.

Look at the Talley lows.

When did Leupold develop the BackCountry? Looks like a Talley imitation.

I would not use a rail unless your running out of elevation with your set up.
Get unknown munitions Tikka rings. Degrease and locktite everything.

Some rings catch the brass and bounce them back into the chamber if they are low or mediums. Just fyi

Got it, thanks, just ordered the UM rings. I think the local shop was just trying to sell me the stuff they had on their shelves, sigh.
