I like the Polartec Alpha insulation and ordered the Rab Alpha Flash as a mid layer. Its just the Alpha insulation no shell front or back. It should insulate well while having the ability to dump heat/sweat fast, but offer no (ZERO) wind protection. My question is, will the Kuiu 240 on top be a Good choice?? Or are their better choices??
merino wool next to skin, Rab Flash then Kuiu 240 as outer layer. This would be for late bow/early gun season.

I would be concerned about the fit of the 240. All three I owned were slim in the arms. To me it worked best over a base then insulation over that.

FWIW- you’re losing a big portion of Alphas wicking and drying capabilities by wearing Merino under it.

If you wanted to maximize that Polertec Alpha jacket, a thin synthetic or high synthetic to merino percentage blend base layer, Alpha jacket, then a wind jacket over it.

Thanks, I do sometimes wear a thin synthetic sleeveless top under my merino. If I replace any I will look for the blend.

I’ll agree with the others on the 240, blocks wind really well but fit is tight in the forearms. I can fit a medium weight base layer under but that’s about it.

I have had a Rab Alpha Freak pullover for a while. One of my favorite pieces of gear
