I just put a Credo 2.5-15x42 on a buddy’s 700. Mounted in Leupold Backcountry medium ringmounts. The bolt makes heavy contact with the scope’s ocular ring. I don’t even know if high mounts will fix it. It needs a lot more clearance than it has. What are my options. I’d rather not deal with returning the scope.

I can’t remember the poster but somebody on here showed a similar issue with a Weatherby 307.

He shaved off some material from the bolt handle where it rubbed the scope and gained enough clearance.

I know next to nothing about aftermarket bolt handles for the Remington 700 but that could be an option to remedy the issue.

I've had no issues with clearance on Huron 3-9's using Warne medium Mtn Techs on picatinny rails on 700's as long as they aren't super low profile rails. The Huron has a pretty large ocular ring as well. It's close but the handle clears with good clearance. I've got an EGW heavy duty rail on my 700, it's 0 MOA flat but it's probably at least a 1/4" tall, maybe a bit more. Ditch the one piece rings and get a rail and then you can tinker with ring height.
