Quick Tikka Stock Question

What is this piece that I took out in the pictures for? It’s in my .308 Super Lite stock. My T1x with a heavier profile barrel does not have that piece. Wouldn’t it be better to not have that and have the barrel free floating? I haven’t tried it to see if that piece touches the barrel as I haven’t reassembled the guns yet (I am installing Spartan gunsmith adapters so the epoxy is drying). Just thought it was weird to have that piece in there.

No need to do anything to float a tikka barrel typically.

Have not seen that in any of mine. Is this a new tikka thing on the new 2026 models?

Tikkas always had “nubs” in the barrel channel to make contact with the barrel. Theory being that they dont improve accuracy, but they add consistency by preventing pressure on the forend from adding different barrel pressure from different positions. Guessing this is an “improved” version of that??

I’ve only had that piece come in a T1x stock.
