I am in the same boat looking for answers. I have a toddler running around now so I had to throw my pistols into the rifle safe. I have my shotgun hung up high in the closet but would like to have a quick access small safe next to the bed for the pistol.

I have a V-line gun safe with a simplex lock. Not only was there no way I'd have my pistol unsecured with visitors in my home or especially now that I have a child - it's also Colorado law to have it secured. Every design is a compromise but for me the simplex lock system was the only way to go for a quick access, totally reliable system.

I have the same V-line as forestry and really like it. It's been great without any issues for about 18 years now.
