Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 Illuminated Forceplex has made my short list of scopes I have an interest to mount on my 280 Remmy. Never had a chance to actually see or use one. First question is the optical quality. Is it good and does the focus stay in focus out to the edges of the scope or does it get somewhat blurred as you view the center of the scope and proceed to look at the outer perimeter while viewing through the scope? Next question: I'm confused by looking at the Kenton website. Is a custom turret available or just the ballistic strip? How does either work? Must you have the Kenton Turret or ballistic strip under the Elevation cap and remove the elevation cap each time you want to dial? Thanks

Kenton has either a turret or the ballistic strip available for the 3-10 SHV. Both work fine. They are only as good as the data you provide, though. Most just use a DOPE card or app and dial with the factory turret.

You do not have to put the cap on over the elevation turret. It is o-ring sealed. The cap just protects it and keeps it from getting bumped. Leave it off if you prefer not to have to remove it.

The SHV has a pretty flat field of view. Probably 80% is flat with a little distortion at the very edge, but that is getting pretty picky. They are solid scopes.

As per the NF CS rep that I spoke with, the SHV models with capped turrets must have the caps in place to maintain their water proof rating. They are not waterproof without the caps.

Good to know. I'll defer to that info. My info is not from a NF rep.
