Questions before i order shaft parts

I would like to get off the half out insert and on to the Easton brass hits. If pairing up with 300 rip tko and brass hits what size fieldpoint fits the most flush? Can I also decide on collars later or do I need to glue hits in with the collars present? I guess the fieldpoint size would need to get changed again too if I wanted them flush as well. Thanks.

FP's for my RIP TKO 250's are 17/64's, and those are perfect.

You can always add a collar later, just make sure you have the proper length to do it.

Thats what i was curious about. so if i do it later will i need to reseat the hit higher to get full threads? im assuming thats what you mean.

No he means do you have enough arrow length for the collar to stay in front of your rest at full draw.

Ok because for some reason I thought it had a lip preventing the collar from sliding down the shaft. That makes sense too

The lip on the collar is thin. If you install HIT's without collars then add collars later, you will still have plenty of thread engagement between the HIT and point/head.

I use standard HITs in my 5mm Axis and FMJ arrows. Epoxy them in, next day epoxy the VPA footers on. Never had a problem.

Similar here. Axis 5mm 260’s. Standard HITs (after gluing, lay your arrows sideways and not vertical), then glue on IW collars the next day.

I’ve been using iron will ss collars for several years now with easton brass hit. My collars are not glued on and very happy with the results. If I plan on shooting bag targets, I remove the collars and increase the field point weight by 25 grains, and they pull out of the target much smoother.

I gave up trying to install the HIT separate from the point/broad head and started installing both with hot melt after seeing one of the Iron Will videos doing it.

Screw field point or broadhead into insert, warm up the insert with a heat gun, roll in the glue, then slide the whole thing in. When I want to switch to broadheads I warm up the FP and pull the point/insert out, screw the broadhead in and repeat the heat gun/glue process.

No more issues with having an insert epoxied in that is *just* off on depth and having to screw around trying to fix it or trashing a $17 arrow.

I use low temp hot melt on HIT's and no adhesive on the collars. No strength issues to date.
