Hey hunters, trying to plan my first elk hunt in Colorado next year and had a few questions about the process of getting tags.

1. Is all of archery OTC?
2. Is muzzleloading part of the rifle season in terms of getting buying a tag or is it completely separate?
3. is muzzleloading and rifle draw only?

thanks in advance, I’m sure these questions have been asked but if you find the time to reply then it’s greatly appreciated.

1: Archery is not all OTC. There are draw units. Approximately 1/3 of the state is draw.

2: Muzzleloader is all limited and totally unrelated to rifle.

3: Rifle is both OTC and limited. Much of the state (west of I-25) is OTC bull for 2nd and 3rd season, with limited cow tags. Seasons 1st and 4th are totally limited for both bull and cow tags.

Limited/draw doesn't necessarily mean difficult to get. You can acquire them on the leftover list or as second choice.

You can get one bull or either sex tag and an additional cow tag (in most cases). These are referred to as list A or list B tags.

Pick your slice of the pie and learn it. It's much easier than looking at the whole spectrum.
