Sweet rig! What model is that?
I have a Trek Stache that I don’t ride. Found out I’m not a MTB person and it’s too much for a road bike.
Really want a gravel bike.

I would hope not.

A currently produced dual purpose city/cross country bike needs a double front chain ring though. The 30 tooth of a cross country bike doesn’t work well on blacktop and a city bike with 40 tooth isn’t anything I’d want to use off-road.

That's where the 12 speed rear cassette is used. The 1x12 on my gravel bike has problems with neither.

You think you could find a triple ring at a bike shop these days?

Loaded touring bikes still take triples. It's the difference between walking and riding at a crawl up mountain grades with 4 bags.

That's where the 12 speed rear cassette is used. The 1x12 on my gravel bike has problems with neither.

Even my Domane has a 12 speed cassette. Its SRAM AXS reds and I have it set up to progressivly shift up and down but I dont remember the last time I needed the small front ring. Not in the last 1500 miles. It has 46/33 fronts. I could have gone with a 52/36 for better range but honestly the 52 is likely too big for me to pedal the bottom half except in steep downhill.
